Skip Hire Prices vary all over the country and are dependant on several factors.
Before hiring a skip there are a few things that you need to consider.

Firstly, you need to decide what sort of waste you want to put in the skip. Is it garden waste, household clearance or building rubble etc.? for example.

Secondly, how much of it do you want to dispose of and how big a skip will you need to put it all in. Invariably you will find more rubbish to put in the skip than you originally thought and more bulky items can make it harder to pack everything into the skip to use all of the available space.

Skip Sizes

Skips come in several sizes from a 1 cubic Yard skip bag up to 12 cubic Yards or even larger in some cases.
(Note that skip sizes have remained in imperial measurements – good old fashioned yards rather than metric metres or metric tonnes)

The most common sizes are:-

2 yards which is approximately 1.5 cubic metres
Ideally suitable for small garden or house jobs

4 yards which is approximately 3 cubic metres
Big enough to dispose of an old bathroom or kitchen

6 yards which is approximately 4.5 cubic metres
Large enough for small building work or bulky waste

8 yards which is approximately 6 cubic metres
Described as a large builder skip

10 yards which is approximately 8.5 cubic metres
This is large enough to take between 80 and 100 dustin bags full.

12 yards which is just over 9 cubic metres
These maxi skips can hold upto 120 dustin bag fulls of rubbish.

Most Skip Hire Prices are based on your local – postcode and prices can vary massively between areas.

Also dependant on your local – postcode area and your local authority / council regulations are the Skip Hire Permits that you will require if the skip needs to be dropped out on the road outside your house. Each of the local authorities / councils seems to have slightly different rules and charges and this will affect the hire price of your skip. Also some councils will require the householder to apply for the skip hire permit whereas others allow the skip hire company to arrange the permit for you.

Recycling

Skip Hire Prices have increased with the spiralling costs of landfill nowadays. We all have the desire to help save the planet, and to this end, most responsible skip hire companies will aim to sort and recycle as much of the waste as possible. The target is to recycle as much as 90% of all materials collected in skips and most companies should achieve around 70% of all waste being recycled.
